In poker, the goal is to win the pot. Players put money down to join the game. All of those bets are collected at the end of the round in a central pot. The highest ranking poker hand wins the pot. A poker showdown occurs when two or more players remain in the game. During a poker showdown, players reveal their hidden cards and evaluate their hands. The player with the best five-card combination wins the pot. Some examples of poker hands are a straight flush and four of a kind. Depending on the variation of the game, players can win up to three times the pot. This is known as the ante phase. However, if more than one player is left in the pot, the next round of betting occurs.

During the betting round, players may need to make forced bets. These include an ante (a small bet), a raise (bets higher than the previous bet), or all-in, which means you are betting all your chips in. If you don’t want to bet all your chips, you can fold. Then, when the dealer deals the cards, the players determine whether to bet. During the betting interval, a player can check their cards or raise their bet.
