Typically played with a few players, Poker is a card game in which the player’s aim is to bet as much as possible until a hand is beat. The player who makes the best poker hand wins the pot.

Some games, such as Seven-Card Stud, have a second betting interval after the first. This is where the cards are dealt to each active player. During the second betting interval, a player may raise or fold. The showdown is when the hands are revealed, and the winner is determined.

During the showdown, players are awarded points for their hand. For example, if a player draws a straight flush, he will receive a point for the show. The show is also an opportunity for players to bluff by presenting a better-than-average hand. If a player bluffs, his opponents may have to fold and forfeit the ante.
